After treatment
Most people go home the same day after pelvic vein embolisation and return to light activities within a few days. Some pelvic aching and tiredness for a week or two is common as the treated veins close. Your specialist will explain which symptoms are expected and which need a call.
Living with pelvic congestion
Whether or not you have treatment, some simple measures can help: lying down with your hips raised when the ache builds, regular movement rather than long spells of standing, managing constipation, and planning activities around the times of day or month when symptoms are worst. Chronic pain also affects sleep, mood, work and relationships, and support for these is part of good care.
